History

Originally registered in February 2007 by a "D S" (axis*********@gmail.com) for an unknown purpose (the Wayback Machine didn't give much of an insight as to why). This version of the website continued until the domain expired 10 years later in February 2017.

The newest iteration of the domain, as can be seen, was registered on the 22nd of August 2022, by an inactive TikToker by the name of @shlemonyt as a programming project. Having originally named the project iPong, pronounced [ˈaɪ pʰiː ˈpɒŋ], he later changed it to DeathPong, and registered the domain to reflect it as such. The actual idea for the website started on August 16th, with his first video about the concept. The first (and only) TikTok mentioning as to where DeathPong was playable, was uploaded on October 10th, where I would shortly thereafter discover their page.

This iteration continued as functional until c. December 2022 until the website started displaying a default NGINX server landing page. It later completely went blank, and the domain expired in August 2023. The domain has not been reregistered since, so it's up for grabs by anyone who wants it.

The TikToker's account has been inactive with no videos or signs of life since January 2023, which leads me to believe they've presumably gone off to persue whatever other programming projects they may be up to.

Description

Originally, a website where you and another user could join a room (with the same room code) and play Pong. Every time you scored a point, the other person's IP would be revealed, and vice versa. (See Screenshot 1)

When one person won (as in, the other person's IP address was completely revealed), the loser would have their IP flash on screen, with the text "no escape", and would have their background colour turn red (See Screenshot 2). The game would just sort of end for the winner, and they would have to manually reload the page, at least when I played it.
